About Me
Caitlin is an experienced Clinical Psychologist having worked in NHS psychology services for over twelve years. She is trained to work with people of all ages with a variety of different needs and concerns. In her independent practice, Caitlin offers support to adults, young adults, children and their families.
Caitlin specialises in working with children, young people and their families. She prides herself on offering a warm, welcoming and flexible approach.
In her NHS roles, Caitlin works as a Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologist in a busy London hospital, supporting children and young people with psychological distress (anxiety, low mood, panic, pain, functional presentations, compulsions and obsessions) as a result of acute and chronic medical and health conditions. She has worked across a range of hospital settings and specialties, including orthopaedics, oncology, diabetes, gastroenterology, feeding difficulties, headaches, complications of excess weight and neonatal care.
Caitlin has undertaken specialist training to offer specialist assessments for autism and learning disabilities. She has worked in a child development team, offering multidisciplinary assessments for autism and neurodiversity. Within this role, she offered support to children, young people and their families to navigate both the strengths and difficulties they might experience in relation to neurodiversity. This frequently includes emotion regulation, positive behaviour support and making changes to the environment to best support young people with autism. Caitlin has trained as a Sleep Counsellor.
Caitlin's approach is predominantly formulation-led which means she create an individualised therapy plan based on each person’s specific strengths and difficulties. She uses an integrative approach to psychological therapy, drawing on systemic, narrative and third-wave Cognitive Behaviour Therapy models.
Caitlin gained a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Exeter before going on to complete a master’s degree in clinical applications of psychology from the University of Warwick. Caitlin also has a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of East London.
Caitlin has conducted and published research in academic journals concerning the adequacy of inquiry about, documentation of, and treatment of trauma and adversities (Neill & Read, 2022).
